Description
National Night Out 2023: Celebrating Police-Community Partnerships
Join the Creedmoor Police Department for National Night Out on
Tuesday, October 3, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at South Granville High School.
The FREE annual event coincides with thousands of participating communities nationwide to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention. Intended to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community, the fun-filled summer evening includes activities focused on youth interaction, safety education, and community spirit.
National Night Out hosts fun activities including a live DJ, inflatables, face painting, impaired-vision course, several emergency vehicle displays, a touchdown from a rescue helicopter, and water activities with Creedmoor Volunteer Fire Department. Kids are encouraged to wear play clothes and bring a towel.
Friendly competitions will pair police officers with kids for games, and the ever popular annual doughnut eating contest.
Don’t worry about dinner! Free hot dogs, popcorn, snocones, cotton candy and beverages are among concession stand offerings.
“National Night Out exemplifies our vision of creating positive interactions between the citizens and their police department. It gives the public a chance to get to know us on a personal level. We are excited about National Night Out and look forward to building relationships with our commUNITY!” stated Chief Troy Wheless.
The 40th annual National Night Out event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is co-sponsored by the City of Creedmoor. More than 18,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world are involved. In all, more than 40 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”
Volunteers are still needed for the event. If you or your community group would like to volunteer and support this family-friendly event, call Angie Perry, Event Coordinator, at (919) 764-1013 or email events@cityofcreedmoor.org.
