Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Help patients improve daily function, safety and independence under occupational therapist supervision.
Key job duties
- Carry out occupational therapy treatment plans under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Provide therapeutic activities addressing daily living skills, strength, coordination and functional mobility.
- Teach patients and caregivers safe techniques, adaptive strategies and equipment use.
- Cross-train to support Cardiac Rehabilitation (ICR), including providing patient education and instruction within the COTA’s assigned role.
- Observe patient performance and communicate progress or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Document treatment and maintain a safe, organized therapy environment.
